Hi! I am Ms. Busch.
I grew up in Eastern Iowa and graduated from UNI with a BA in Music Education and Performance and then went on to
graduate school in Chicago. There I received a Master of Music in Performance Degree from Northwestern University School
of Music.
After graduating, I taught in District 107 and the Music Arts School in
Highland Park, IL, and then came back to Iowa to teach at UNI at the Price Laboratory School and the UNI Suzuki School. I
taught string students in preschool through the college level. Then I went to Iowa City to teach just elementary. I found
out I really enjoyed starting students from the beginning and liked being able to work on the most important skills right
from the start. When students have a solid foundation to string playing, the whole program benefits all the way up to high
school. It is most rewarding! Then I moved back to Cedar Falls again and started teaching in the schools.
At this time, I also became more involved in the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony, and served as Co-Concertmaster,
the Player's Committee and the Board of Director's. Prior to this I had played in several regional orchestras like the Dubuque
and Quad City Symphonies. In the summer, I taught at the Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan and also had the opportunity
to perform with Smokey Robinson and the rock group KANSAS. (I think I lost some hearning after the last one!!!)
I have been teaching in the Cedar Falls Schools for 10 years now and was so excited to move into
the new Lincoln School. This year seems to be a bit easier now that I have a place to call "home" and a new rehearsal room
and instrument storage. I look forward to our concerts in the Auditorium with great anticipation!!
